I thought a starting point might be of use, so here goes ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12:34 … Bethany sighed annoyed. They had agreed on a meeting at 12 and still some of her crew was missing. Was she working with idiots now? She might have understood the excuses they would undoubtedly bring, if it hadn’t been a matter of utmost importance. And even then their chance of getting off easy would have been slim.
“Five more minutes, then we’ll start – with or without them,” she decided aloud and resumed pacing through the room in exasperation.

12:37 “Hey boss, how’s it going?” Leticia asked sitting down casually and lit a cigarette. “I see I’m not the only one who got stuck in traffic, eh,” she added crossing her legs.

11:47 Whoops he would probably be late. Late enough to get yelled at - again. Sighing he glared at the traffic light, couldn't it turn to a green already? Well too bad, he had no time to wait whole day so across the street it was! He either wasn't the only one in hurry or accidentally fooled that young girl to think the light had turned green as she started crossing the street the second after he moved. The difference between him and her was that he was damn aware of that car approaching them while she was busy staring at her cellphone. Lucky for her that his reflexes were fast and he managed to yank her into safety just before the car would have hit either of them. She looked at him startled clearly only then realizing what had almost happened starting to cry hysterical against him. Gah... As if he wasn't in bad enough hurry already! When he finally arrived Bethany had of course already given up that he or the few others he could point missing would arrive at all. "Betty baby, you started important meeting without me?" He asked almost hurt but receiving a glare he figured that now wasn't the time to whine about that NOR would his earlier 'heroic' actions count as defense, he was late and she was angry. He would hear a lecture about being late and have to swallow it. Sigh.

At 12:37 Leticia showed up. Of course she looked like she didn’t have a care in the world.
“Hey boss, how’s it going?” she asked lighting a cigarette, “I see I’m not the only one who got stuck in traffic, eh.”
“Have you ever heard of the meaning of the word punctual? And take your cancer elsewhere! I don’t care if you want to die at fifty but do it outside of my meetings.” With that Bethany snatched the cigarette from the woman’s lips and promptly threw it out the window. She looked at her watch again. Those idiots be damned, she’d have to start without them. “Fine, since nobody of the rest seems to be inclined to grace us with their presence today, let’s start. This isn’t an issue to be taken lightly.” She stopped again when the door opened and Kevin walked in.
"Betty baby, you started important meeting without me?" Bethany glared at him.
“If you feel the need to shorten my name, make it Beth. I have yet to star in “Little Women” and I doubt it’ll happen in the future. Now sit your sorry ass down and shut up.” She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Christ, with a staff like you it’s a wonder this theater hasn’t failed years ago. But I digress. I’m sure we all want to keep our jobs - no matter how serious we take them – so we’d better think of something. We need to get people into this theater, many of them. I’m working on an ultimatum here, so you better think of a play that does that.”

“Have you ever heard of the meaning of the word punctual? And take your cancer elsewhere! I don’t care if you want to die at fifty but do it outside of my meetings.” With that Bethany snatched the cigarette from her lips and promptly threw it out the window. Leticia grimaced a little; just why on earth did that woman have to be as grumpy as that all time?! Bethany looked at her watch. “Fine, since nobody of the rest seems to be inclined to grace us with their presence today, let’s start. This isn’t an issue to be taken lightly.” Leticia yawned wondering if the boss would come to the point within the same year or not when the door opened and Kevin walked in.
"Betty baby, you started important meeting without me?" he asked seeming in a good mood. It was probably pure luck that Bethany only glared at him while, indeed, the glance of that woman would probably be enough to kill people who had less nerves than her and Kevin. “If you feel the need to shorten my name, make it Beth. I have yet to star in “Little Women” and I doubt it’ll happen in the future. Now sit your sorry ass down and shut up.” ‘Betty’, as Leticia decided to call her at least in her thoughts as of then, sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Uh~ boss, you have a make-up artist and a lighting tech in front of ya, we are kinda not quite the right ones to ask for figuring out an actual play,” Leticia said and then turned to Kevin. “Morn’ Kevers, lookin’ just as shitty as every day.” She winked.

“If you feel the need to shorten my name, make it Beth. I have yet to star in “Little Women” and I doubt it’ll happen in the future. Now sit your sorry ass down and shut up.” He grimaced but did as told. Bethany sighed “Christ, with a staff like you it’s a wonder this theater hasn’t failed years ago. But I digress. I’m sure we all want to keep our jobs - no matter how serious we take them – so we’d better think of something. We need to get people into this theater, many of them. I’m working on an ultimatum here, so you better think of a play that does that.” Well at least he could nod at that, he liked his job here and if Maplehill was closed and he wanted to keep working on at least something similarish it would mean moving somewhere else and that wasn't really option with his current situation... “Uh~ boss, you have a make-up artist and a lighting tech in front of ya, we are kinda not quite the right ones to ask for figuring out an actual play,” Leticia said and then turned to him. “Morn’ Kevers, lookin’ just as shitty as every day.” She winked and he smirked back, "You're not looking any less shitty yourself either. Long night again huh?"

Getting more serious he looked at Bethany, "I guess picking the play depends very much on what we wanna try here, choosing something popular to work on will draw in the ones that already like the story in question or are curious about it and wanna know how we can render it and choosing something more unknown might or might not draw in curious people, there's no way to be sure if with option one we can reach enough people liking the story or in option two manage making unknown story sound appealing enough for people to bother with it." More jokingly he added, "If it all goes down we can ALWAYS set up street performance with sock puppets and cardboard stage. I can hold the flash light and switch between different colored papers to create neat colored light and blink the light too for even more dramatic effect." Thoughtful he added, "I guess you won't agree in puppet theater for kids? Would be kinda safe 'cause the costs would be low and you know, kids these days REALLY should get more cultural experiences instead of only playing videogames all day AND many parents agree with that statement. And if parents won't then grandparents will. Making modernized rendering of some well known fairytale might work out well too, screw Shakespeare and other old farts with their 'oh so tragic' plays." He smirked, "Or maybe 'cause it's the possibly last chance we totally should do Little Women. You'll be Beth."

“Uh~ boss, you have a make-up artist and a lighting tech in front of ya, we are kinda not quite the right ones to ask for figuring out an actual play,” Leticia pointed out.
“There’s other people in the room, Leticia …” Leticia already wasn’t listening to Bethany anymore and had turned to Kevin. She threw an annoyed glance at the half empty table. Three of her actors were missing, two of which were usually mains, almost the entire technical team as well. The producer dutifully looked down in shame. She’d give him hell later. He had been the one tasked to organize the meeting after all.
“Morn’ Kevers, lookin’ just as shitty as every day.” Bethany had the urge to hit her with something heavy. Maybe it’d beat enough sense into her to see the situation’s seriousness.
"You're not looking any less shitty yourself either. Long night again huh?" Kevin at least was dutiful enough to turn back to the task at hand immediately after. "I guess picking the play depends very much on what we wanna try here, choosing something popular to work on will draw in the ones that already like the story in question or are curious about it and wanna know how we can render it and choosing something more unknown might or might not draw in curious people, there's no way to be sure if with option one we can reach enough people liking the story or in option two manage making unknown story sound appealing enough for people to bother with it. „Little Women was a book, Kevin. And since our lovely playwright didn’t show up, we’re not handling adaptions right now,” she said, “I’d also think about saying that about Shakespeare again. That man made more dick jokes in one play than you in your lifetime. Not so tragic, really.” After a moment of thought she added, “No puppets, and maybe start sorting your thoughts before you talk.” She might’ve found humour in his rambles if she didn’t have to lead a team of idiots and was tired and annoyed to begin with. As the case was, he didn’t even stand a chance.

"You're not looking any less shitty yourself either. Long night again huh?" Kevin andswered and then went all lame making stupid suggestions instead of continuing their chat. “Kevers can’t think, Bet, ya should have noticed that meanwhile,“ Leticia remarked and then added annoyed. “Shakespeare, huh? Sounds like I’ll end up doing nothing but concealing pimples again. Jee, can’t ya come up with something that requires actual character make-up for once?!” She groaned, “What does keeping mah job help me if I die from boredom soon?! - Eh, Kevers? ‘xactly; nothing!”

If you wanted make-up heavy one it would have to be Cats or such." He tilted his head and looked at Bethany, "But I think Bett- Beth's disagreeing with that one." He sighed, "How 'bout just picking whatever and making it after internet rule 63? Gender reversing stuff is fun." At Leticia he smirked, "I can make you those sock puppets and you can put make-up on them. Or how 'bout we just get you one of those creepy make-up doll heads?"

„I’m terribly sorry, but your level of boredom won’t determine any choices,” Bethany retorted with annoyance heavy in her voice.
"Hus Letty, I think she still thinks that I might have at least half brain, at least third of one. If you wanted make-up heavy one it would have to be Cats or such. But I think Bett- Beth's disagreeing with that one."
„We have two actors with any singing talent, Kevin, do the maths.“

“Shut up, both of you!” Bethany interfered before Kevin could reply. “I’m working with idiots!” She resumed her pacing. This wasn’t working out – quite obviously that is. “Get me the rest of the crew here, now!” she said to the producer before turning to the other people in the room, “Fifteen minute break and then you better come up with some decent ideas or you won’t need to worry about a failing theater anymore!”

“We have two actors with any singing talent, Kevin, do the maths.“ Betty replied to his cats suggestion, he did know it but she was the one asking for ideas and he was the only one apparently coming up with any. “How ‘bout I put your head on a stick ‘nstead, huh?” Leticia smirked at his make-up doll idea to keep her from getting bored “Nah, can’t do that jus’ now, ya still owe me a beer over at Ben’s, remember? Ya failed at the billiard table so badly cuz ya’d soak up yar head too much last week. I wan’ at least mah drink~” She pinched his nose, “C’mon, how ‘bout today ‘venin’?!” He smirked, it was quite hilarious; Betty was like it was the end of the world and Letty's biggest worry was that she wanted a beer, how the hell had they ever ended up working together? “Shut up, both of you!” Bethany exclaimed before he even opened his mouth to reply. “I’m working with idiots!” She resumed her pacing. “Get me the rest of the crew here, now!” she said to the producer before turning to the other people in the room, “Fifteen minute break and then you better come up with some decent ideas or you won’t need to worry about a failing theater anymore!” He sighed, most of the staff clearly had already accepted that they'd be unemployed in couple of months and already giving up without a fight. No matter how much he joked around with Letty and other people with any sense of humor he still wasn't up for losing his job... He looked at Letty, "Okay we go drinking after this is over." then he tapped her forehead, "But ONLY if you turn your brain on serious mode till we're done here. Now excuse me for a moment..."

He headed after Bethany who looked like her head just might explode right there, "Beth, sorry for joking around. We're just as tressed as you are, just handling it differently" He sighed, "The biggest problem is that we have too few actors to pull of anything big. How 'bout reaching out for help, I think local schools might have at least few people who might have some acting talent or at least basic interest? It could be disguised as a 'course' and that way you wouldn't even have to pay for them." He smiled, "Let's just call it something ambitious like 'youth's culture excursion' or such and lure people to take part with image of how 'glamorous' this job really is."

Leticia sighed and went outside to lit a cigarette. “Decent ideas, my ass! What does she expect?” Leticia murmured to herself and groaned before she took a drag from her cigarette.
Sitting on the stone stairs in front of the theatre, she mused; for fucks sake, she couldn’t be of service at this decision; not even if she wanted, not even if ‘Betty the Bat’ yelled at her all night through. She had never read anything more sophisticated than a comic. How on earth should someone like her chose what to play in a theatre that was going down the drain already anyway, huh?

Hi, I’m currently dead. ;)
By which I mean I’m trying to find an apartment in a city four hours from where I live right now and it seems almost impossible.
But yeah, don’t mind me …

"Beth, sorry for joking around. We're just as stressed as you are, just handling it differently.” Bethany turned to Kevin with a frown on her face. "The biggest problem is that we have too few actors to pull of anything big. “I’ll have you know that I managed plays with less than the ten people we have,” she answered before sighing, “But I guess you’re right. I just … this theater can’t handle more irresponsible people – that and my ability to deal with kids is … pretty nonexistent to be honest.”
