Elyssa grimaced and scratched her neck, "Saw her talking with the teacher and tried listening to what they were talking since it sounded interesting. Classmate busted my ass and of course Max had to hear her nagging at me and ask what was going on and she told her that I was spying on them." She sighed deeply, "I didn't mean anything bad with it, just wanted to know her bit better since she's so private about everything and ironically doing so I probably just managed to get her lock down for good."
“Honestly, that doesn’t sound all that bad. I mean, I guess you can’t really expect someone to not be private when you’ve known them for three days, so the spying was a little premature. But … it’s not like you turned her into a frog or set her hair on fire. That would have been really awkward.” Andy smiled before throwing an arm around her shoulders and leading her into the cafeteria. “Come on, I’m starving. I’m sure she’ll come around eventually. You can always try plying her with cute little gifts or something.”

Breathe in – count to three – breathe out … Max had found a nook where she wouldn’t easily be seen and tucked herself away. It would be fine, she just needed a few moments to calm down. All would be okay. She didn’t hear anyone approaching so the sound of a voice startled her almost out of her skin.
"Are you alright? The plants were concerned about you..." It was one of the boys they’d sat with the day before, the quiet one … what had been his name again? And the plants … Max frowned slightly before biting her lip. Her arms wound tighter around her stomach.
“I’m … it’s nothing.”
